Folding bikes! Coffeeeeee!
“Monthly-ish”
Odds are you’re on this list because you came through and one of us (now we are two!) asked, “can I add you to our monthly-ish email list?” Well I just looked, and the last email went out in June. That’s “ish,” if I’ve ever seen it! You’re welcome….
It’s mostly been so ishy because the busy season has been BUSY, which, thank you so much. Watching the store grow over the past year-and-change has been heartening despite the Hamster Wheel Factor, and I continue to be buoyed by your affirmations and gratitude, and the general feeling that we’re doing something ultimately quite useful and wanted in the neighborhood. I’m so pleased to be here.

June’s email, in fact, was about a #coffeeoutside meetup we’d planned for Bike Week, which we wound up bringing inside to escape the Canadian wildfire smoke. This Saturday, October 4 will be International Coffee Outside Day, so we’ll get a second chance to converge outdoors to brew the ol’ bean. Details below!
But first: folding bikes are sweet
We’re a Tern Bicycles dealer, and despite being better-known in the ‘States for their compact e-cargo bikes, they make a bunch of acoustic folders (like non-electric, you get me?) In fact, the company was born from a legacy folding bike brand, and Tern is very comfortable operating and innovating in this space.
Recently we’ve had an uptick in phone calls and shop visits on folding bike interest, so I figured it would be a good time to toot our own horn as one of few local shops with multiple folding bikes on the floor. Toot toot!
Above and below are pictures of the Tern Node D7i and the Tern Link D8. These bikes have 24” and 20” wheels, respectively, and while they both do the same great folding trick, they’ve got some other differences. The Node excels at being ready for all conditions with its internal-gear drivetrain and front dynamo light powered by electricity generated in the front wheel. The Link packs down smaller with its smaller wheels, and still rides remarkably like a “regular bike.”
They both come with fenders, a rear rack, and a kickstand, and are ready to get you where you’re going and then pack down to sneak inside without taking up space. Great for multi-modal trips, apartment life, and the peace of mind you’ll get from your bike staying comfortably indoors while at work or at home, instead of locked up outside.
I invite you to come test ride these bikes!!!
We’re hosting Int’l #coffeeoutside Day!
Ride with GPS, a free app for bicycle route planning and sharing, created International Coffee Outside Day in 2022. Each year they support the event in cities far and wide by connecting with local hosts and ride leaders, publicizing local meetups, and supplying a grip of prizes for those events. This year we get to host! We’re not leading a specific bike ride; instead, just make your way to the highest point of elevation in Warner Park—what I think of as the sledding hill/dog park observation hill—this Saturday morning. We’ll be there from 9AM til 10:30AM. You can expect us to have a water supply and a two-burner camping stove. Joiners are encouraged to BYO coffee beans and brewing kit, but I’d wager you’ll be able to shoulder tap your way to a cup of joe if you just bring your own mug.
Hit the link above for a map to the spot, or just head to the southern bike & pedestrian park entrance at the top of Sheridan Drive. We’ll have a sandwich board up pointing the rest of the way, but you’ll probably see us right away.
This Saturday! Nine AM! Come hang out!
